Our Team

John D. Hilcher, CPA began his public accounting career with R.A. Fredericks & Company, LLP prior to joining Ernst & Young in 1984. In 1989, he established his practice providing tax, financial reporting, accounting and management advisory services to clients primarily in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, with reciprocity to practice in various states. 

John’s extensive experience includes foreign, federal, state and local taxes, including corporate, partnership, fiduciary, individual, estate and gift taxes. He provides tax controversy and planning services minimizing or deferring foreign, federal, state and local taxes. His financial reporting practice; audit, review and compilation engagements are peer reviewed.

John’s licensed in New Jersey and Tennessee as a Certified Public Accountant, members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, graduating from Montclair State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting.

Carol Huntley has been an employee for John D. Hilcher, CPA P.C. for over ten years as his administrative assistant and has been a New Jersey public notary for over six years, as well as a member of the National Notary Association. Working in the firm has sparked her interest in the field of Accounting, and she is currently working on her degree. In her spare time, she loves to travel, spend time with family and friends, and on occasion loves to jam skate at roller rinks.

John R. Hilcher, (JR) is a former collegiate baseball player who is currently a staff accountant here at the firm while continuing his education at William Paterson University working towards Masters in Accounting. After graduating from Lynn University with a Bachelor of Science in 2019, he got a job as a business development manager at a logistics company in Long Beach, California where he specialized in business to business (B2B) sales. He then moved on to a short stint of in professional baseball in 2020. Following that opportunity, JR joined us at John D. Hilcher CPA P.C. in the beginning of 2021. JR brings us expertise in social media, website design and marketing. He has a very entrepreneurial spirit and is leading the firm into a more progressive direction technologically. We welcome him as he makes the transition from the field to the office environment.
